Madinat Makadi Golf Course: Celebrating the 2024 Travelers' Choice Award

For the first time since the tournament series started the Grand Final was played on the majestic refurbished Madinat Makadi Golf Resort in Egypt. A qualification process which took place throughout the year (2023) in over 700 golf clubs and attracted thousands of golfers around Germany, Austria and Switzerland produced fierce competition. Each competitor playing for one of the revered 30 spots in the grand final. These finalist and guests arrived at Madinat Makadi Golf Resort at the end of April 24. Welcomed by sunshine, blue skies and a very well prepared and challenging golf course. Staying at the Makadi Steigenberger 5-star Golf hotel the setting was complete for a perfect event.


The course was in impeccable condition, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the ground staff. The fairways were lush, and the greens were smooth, providing a challenging yet fair playing field for the competitors. The weather cooperated perfectly, with clear skies and a challenging wind from the North, further enhancing the playing conditions.


The tournament was filled with memorable moments, from spectacular drives to precise putts. Notable highlights included the Hole in One prize during the second round. The sponsor Harold Skroch, Bauplanung was offering a brand new house for the first hole in one on hole 16. Unfortunately, nobody achieved the hole in one but there were a few near misses. The golf was enjoyed by all who showed exceptional sportsmanship throughout. The competition was fierce, but the spirit of camaraderie and respect among the players was evident, embodying the true essence of the sport.


The tournament concluded with a thrilling final round, where Leo Dubbe from G&CC Fleesensee emerged as the gross champion, delivering a masterful performance. The runner-up, Mandy Matthew from GC Neuhof, also put up a strong fight but in the end was 1 point short. The first net prize went to Nico Jezow from Haus Amecke with 84 points followed by Daniel Hoelsch from Haghof with 75 points.

  • Best gross score Men: Leo Dubbe Hcap 3.5 – 52 points.
  • Best gross score Women: Mandy Mattew Hcap 0.5 – 51 points.

  • During the gala evening situated by the pool of the Makadi Steigenberger hotel, the winners were presented their prizes by Marcus Brunnthaler, General Manager of the Golf Time magazine. Thanks very much to the SAMSONITE Group for generously sponsoring the prizes. This added a touch of prestige to the occasion.


    The success of the tournament was due the cooperation between the JAZ Hotel Group, the Madinat Makadi Golf Resort, the Makadi Steigenberger hotel and Golf Time magazine. The event was backed by SAMSONITE.
    The SAMSONE Tour Final was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of golf and community spirit. The event brought together players, families, and fans in a shared passion for the sport. The organizers express their gratitude to all participants, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators who made the tournament a memorable success.
